Experienced Steve Affleck moves to Imperial Commercials Stoke-on-Trent region

- Steve Affleck appointed Regional Director for dealer group’s Stoke-on-Trent region

- Impressive customer support experience key to appointment

- Further Sales and Aftersales appointments bolster regional presence

- “We’re bringing real strength-in-depth to the organisation,” Managing Director, Matt Lawrenson.

  • Imperial Commercials, the UK’s largest independent commercial vehicle dealer group, has appointed Steve Affleck as Regional Director for the company’s Stoke-on-Trent region. The news follows the recent appointments of Daniel Fitzjohn and Vincente Connolly who were handed Regional Director roles for Imperial Commercials’ Western and Birmingham regions respectively.

Following 12 highly successful years as Imperial Commercials’ Regional Director for the MAN and Isuzu Truck brands in East Anglia, Affleck, 59, has been appointed to bring his impressive customer support experience to the region, covering locations in Stoke-on-Trent, Wrexham and Deeside near Chester. While Affleck’s primary remit will focus on Imperial Commercials’ franchise with the market-leading DAF brand, he will also assume responsibility for Renault Trucks and FIAT Professional marques in the region. With 25 further UK locations, Imperial Commercials is the largest DAF Dealer group in the UK and Europe.

“We’re bringing real strength-in-depth to the organisation,” said Managing Director, Matt Lawrenson, “Steve is an Imperial Commercials man through-and-through and he was instrumental to the success of the business in East Anglia. His vast experience will be crucial in developing our presence in the Stoke-on-Trent region. Similarly,” he said, “Vincente and Daniel boast hugely impressive CVs and a proven track record with the Mercedes-Benz brand. Together, we’re building a fantastic team of senior executives.”

Further appointments in the Stoke-on-Trent region include Martin Jones who becomes Depot Manager at Deeside, and Allen Whitby, the new Aftersales Executive based in Stoke-on-Trent with responsibility for increasing Service business. Recruitment is also underway to appoint a Trucks Sales Executive for the North Wales area – bolstering an already robust regional sales structure still further.

Steve Affleck embarked upon his commercial vehicle career with Ford in 1975 as a vehicle apprentice. After working in various aftersales roles, his first senior management position came as General Manager with Iveco Ford in Leeds in 1994. After intervening spells with other leading truck manufacturers, Affleck joined Imperial Commercials in 2006 as Regional Director for East Anglia, based out of the company’s Peterborough site. His 12-year stint directing MAN and Isuzu Truck operations resulted in three Dealer of the Year and a number of other manufacturer dealer awards, providing tangible evidence of his impressive managerial attributes.

“I am absolutely ready for the new challenge and I have a great team to help me deliver on our objectives,” said Steve Affleck, “and the Stoke region certainly offers prospects to grow Imperial Commercials’ presence in the North West and North Wales. While many opportunities exist to develop Sales, Service and Parts revenues,” he said, “we will continue to deliver the Imperial Commercials commitment to exceeding customers’ expectations – it’s something I see throughout the business and it’ll continue in this region, too.”
